About rendering
Rendering suits extensions, garages, boundary walls and full elevations where the existing brick or blockwork is either unattractive or exposed to driving rain. The right system depends on the substrate and the property — sand and cement with a painted finish, or a through-coloured silicone or monocouche render that needs no painting.
Preparation is the part that determines how long a render lasts: checking the background, fitting beads and stop ends correctly, allowing for movement, and making sure water is thrown clear of the wall at sills, verges and the base of the render.
Every property is assessed before any recommendation is made. Where render is not the right answer for a wall — for example on some older solid-wall or period properties that need a breathable approach — that is explained at the quote stage.
